Outrageous Fortune

Outrageous Fortune is a Boston-based acoustic early jazz and blues trio. Their repertoire features early jazz (Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong); blues and jug band music (Robert Johnson and the Memphis Jug Band); and a dollop of folk music (Old-time Appalachian, Guthrie, and Dylan).

The trio comprises Chris Welles on guitar; Rod Thomas on harmonicas; and Dan Dick on jug, washboard, upright bass, banjo, flutes, and kitchen utensils. Audiences are wowed by their instrumental virtuosity, and are delighted by their smooth three-part vocal harmonies, their strong groove, and the abundant joy that infuses every performance. Outrageous Fortune has been bringing smiles to New England audiences since 1998 at coffeehouses, festivals, clubs, public libraries, and private events.
